I’m so excited about our upcoming homeschool social and video viewing. First, since we are new to this beautiful community, it will be a way for my daughter and me to meet other homeschool families in Cascade. And second, this documentary is receiving rave reviews. It will encourage those of us who have been homeschooling for a while, and it will inform those thinking about homeschooling their kiddos and share what a benefit and privilege it truly is. Yes, I am really looking forward to this gathering.
So here is what we are planning for the Homeschool Social. Come to Central Valley Baptist Church anytime between 12:30 and 2 for fellowship and lunch. This gathering will be a ‘bring your own lunch’ sort of get-together. Kids can play, and parents can chat. At 2 pm, we will air the viewing of Schoolhouse Rocked – The Homeschool Revolution upstairs in the sanctuary, while the kids will have supervised play and arts and crafts downstairs. The film is about an hour and a half long, so it should end around 3:30.
Gracie and I are still part of the North Boise Classical Conversations community and travel to the Treasure Valley once a week (barring the highway isn’t closed). My director watched this film a couple of weeks ago and said it was better than she ever expected. It renewed her joy and reminded her of why she does what she does (she has seven kiddos – four currently homeschooled and three coming up!) and encouraged any family who homeschools or is considering homeschooling to watch this film. So even if you can’t make this Homeschool Social, I highly suggest watching Schoolhouse Rocked on your own. But I do hope to see you there!
